 Taking a little break from the hardcore today as we dive into one of the longest running horror series out there, Witchcraft.  I specifically picked part 8 to take about today because it is... well, this one is special. In a series that is 16 movies long, that is saying something.  Witchcraft 8  drops the main storyline of the first 7 films, and focuses on a stand alone tale of a couple buying a very haunted house. Our couple, Sonny and Mary Ann, are trying to start over in a new place, with Sonny taking on a new job, and the couple buying a creepy old house that is obviously hiding something. That something is the ghost of an evil dude bro warlock locked away in a secret tomb in their basement. He gets released and "sexy" shenanigans ensue, because the Warlock is awake and he has the hots for Mary Ann. Also, Sonny has to overcome his claustrophobia or something... One of the things I feel like I have to address when talking about adult films, or even mainstream erotic films, is that what we are seeing is not reality. Even when the sexual acts are real, it still isn't real. Sex on film is done to look good, not necessarily to feel good. I bring this up because I have been reading and listening to interviews with performers and directors as I've been looking for material to review, and the topic keeps coming up. I don't think younger people realize how rare it was to see any kind of gay male intimacy on TV back in the 90's and early 2000's. The show Thirtysomething  actually lost advertisers for showing two men in bed together. Gay favorite Melrose Place  had a main gay regular with Matt. The Bad Wives are ready to raise some hell. Bad Wives 2 is Paul Thomas's follow up to his successful domestic dark comedy Bad Wives.  With a new cast led by Raylene, April and Randy Spears we follow Tracy Jo and Elizabeth as they deal out their revenge on their horrible husbands, and struggle with what getting revenge will mean for them in the end. Unlike the original, this one has made it to digital intact, and damn am I glad. This is the kind of feature that you shouldn't fast forward through. It mixes storytelling and the adult scenes perfectly, meaning that the story doesn't stop just because the actors have hopped into bed. So, to answer my eternal question, yes this works as a movie. In all my years watching adult films, I have never actually watched a Where the Boys Aren't  movie. This long running series was basically created to get popular porn stars together to do some girl/girl scenes. Eventually it became a showcase for Vivid's contract performers. #16 features a host of well known porn faces, including Jenna Jameson. With her we have Vivid staples such as Dasha, Brianna Banks, Mercedez, Sunrise Adams, Savanna Samson, Chloe Jones, Taya and Kira Kener. Before we get into the main body of the post I need to clarify that the version I saw was the softcore Showtime cut called Lust & Redemption. I didn't even intend on watching this, but I found it on the Paramount+ app, and put it on out of curiosity. This also appears to be on Tubi under the original title Redemption , but with a slightly different run time than the Showtime cut. The cut I saw does still include sex scenes, but uses softcore takes to hide the naughty bits from the audience. I originally had a different post planned for today that covered some heavier topics, but because the Bad Wives  got put in Google jail not once, but twice, I decided to try something a little less... heavy.  For a certain age group Emmanuelle in Space was a kind of first exposure to erotica. The series of seven films were an official spin off of the Emmanuelle films, features a young woman joining a group of aliens to teach them about love, lust and pleasure. Mixing fantasy, sci-fi, plenty of stock footage, and erotica Emmanuelle in Space  became a memorable late night staple of the 90's.   Leeches  is one of the greatest bad movies ever made. It is an over the top mix of hand puppets, cheesy acting and insane homoeroticism, and it is also absolutely hilarious. Wicked Pictures was one of the leaders in creating high end couples adult features. They had big, glossy productions and employed some big talent both in front of, and behind the camera. I was so curious what their current output looked like, so I grabbed Dark Is The Night , directed by James Avalon. Was this going to be like Pride, and really be just a series of clips, or was this going to be an honest to goodness feature? Was someone still making actual adult films?  The answer is yes. Our first Vivid movie! In the world of straight porn features there are three big studios that instantly come to mind. You have Vivid, Wicked and VCA. Today we are going to be dipping our toes into the Vivid backlog with Paul Thomas's 1997 feature, Bad Wives. I finally pushed through and watched all of Wrong Side of the Tracks . This is probably one of Chi Chi LaRue's most narrative films, considering he tends to be a director that prefers his features to be more sex forward. Don't get me wrong, this movie is VERY sex forward, with plenty of man on man action filling the 5+ hour runtime between both films. Part 1 comes in at 2 hours 50 minutes, and part 2 comes in at 2 hours 23 minutes.  There is just also a story that holds it all together. First, if you are fan of Johnny Hazzard, you will like this movie. He is featured in a majority of the sex scenes in both films (4 scenes in part 1, and 2 scenes in part 2). I have been debating talking about hentai on this blog. Mainly because of lot of the more famous titles include non-con material. That includes the title we are going to be talking about today. Swinging back into the land of the mainstream, I thought I would talk about one of my all time favorite movies. Warning, I get a bit gushy here.  John McNaughton's Wild Things  is one of my all time favorite movies. I have seen it countless times, and even though I know all of the twists and turns, I still get caught up in this steamy thriller. With an all star cast (that includes fricken Bill Murray!), Wild Things  is a movie where no one's motives are clear, and everyone is out for themselves. It makes for some damn fine viewing.  If you are going to talk about dirty mainstream movies, you have to mention Wild Things . While nowhere near as explicit as I remember, the movie still knew exactly when and where to push the boundaries to give this tawdry tale a fun and slightly sleazy air. I was going to try and tackle the Wrong Side of the Tracks movies for this post, but with the first movie clocking in at almost 3 hours, I realized I didn't have the time to give those movies the attention that they needed. So I searched for something a little more manageable. Asylum , being a more typical gay porn feature, was only 90 minutes. Perfect! Produced by Falcon Studios, and directed by John Bruno, I went into Asylum knowing next to nothing about this one. The experience was honestly one of the coolest things in the world to me. I also was able to get the chance to figure how exactly these movies were written. Now, this was how these movies were produced back in the mid-2000's, so who knows how they do it now.
